How to generate a Virtual ID (VID) for Aadhaar card online

You can generate a Virtual ID (VID) for your Aadhaar card by
following these steps:

1. Go
   to the official UIDAI website: https://uidai.gov.in/


2. Click
   on the "My Aadhaar" option and select "Virtual ID (VID)
   Generator" from the dropdown menu.


3. Enter
   your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security code displayed on the
   screen.


4. Click
   on the "Send OTP" button to receive a 6-digit OTP on your
   registered mobile number.


5. Enter
   the OTP in the appropriate field and click on the "Submit"
   button.


6. In
   the next screen, you will see the option to "Generate VID" or
   "Retrieve VID". Click on the "Generate VID" button.


7. A
   16-digit Virtual ID (VID) will be generated and displayed on the screen.
   Note down the VID or click on the "Download VID" button to save
   it on your device.

The VID can be used for Aadhaar verification purposes
instead of your Aadhaar number. This provides an additional layer of security
and privacy, as you can share your VID with the verifying entity instead of
your Aadhaar number.

Note that the VID is temporary and can be generated multiple
times. If you wish to generate a new VID, simply repeat the above steps.
